Osama Hamdy, MD, PhD

 

Is one of the faces of the Joslin Diabetes Center, the world’s preeminent diabetes research and clinical care organization affiliated with Harvard Medical School. He is the founder and medical director of the Joslin Obesity Clinical Program, director of inpatient diabetes management and assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is the creator of Joslin Why WAIT program, the world’s first clinical program designed to help patients with diabetes lose weight through a novel multidisciplinary approach. An international diabetes and weight loss expert, he completed his medical and doctoral training at Mansoura University in Mansoura, Egypt, followed by fellowships at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics and Harvard University Joslin Diabetes Center. He chaired the task force that developed Joslin’s nutrition guidelines, is a member of the Nutrition Committee of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and Vice-chair of the International Transcultural Diabetes Nutrition Working Group.  Dr. Hamdy has published more than 150 research articles and book chapters which are accessible at www.ohamdy.com.

Sheri R. Colberg, PhD

 

Is a professor of exercise science at Old Dominion University and an adjunct professor of internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. With expertise in exercise, diabetes, aging and weight loss, she has worked with hundreds of individuals prescribing a variety of physical activity, diabetes management and weight loss techniques.
