Cognitive behavioral intervention

Group behavioral support sessions are conducted weekly during the initial 12 weeks of intervention.  Each session is led by a clinical psychologist or a behavioral therapist. Sessions incorporate key components of cognitive-behavioral therapy already validated in other clinical trials of weight management.

These components include self-monitoring of eating and exercise, behavioral goal setting, stimulus control techniques, cognitive restructuring, assertive communication skills, stress management, and relapse-prevention.
